We at Tornado Gold believe Nevada remains the best place to explore for and to exploit giant gold deposits. We are not alone in this view. In a 2004 report by the Fraser Institute, mining companies rated Nevada as second best jurisdiction in the world for mining investment attractiveness, after Chile.
Since mining in Chile is primarily for copper and in Nevada is primarily for gold, this makes Nevada the best in the world for gold exploration.
Nevada is rated as one of the best areas in the world in terms of the attractiveness of its mining policies.
In 2003 Nevada’s gold production compared to its size was the greatest in the world, even greater than South Africa.
If Nevada were a country, its gold production would rank third in the world behind South Africa and Australia. Nevada has had recorded gold production since 1860, but in the early 1980s the Nevada gold rush really began, resulting in the production of 84 per cent of all of the gold produced in Nevada just during the present gold boom. Of all of the gold ever produced on Earth in all of its history, three per cent was produced in Nevada, most during the recent gold boom.
