Tornado Gold to Proceed with Jack Creek Gold.
Located in the northern Independence Range about 50 miles north of Elko Nevada, Jack Creek comprises 300 lode mining claims (nearly 5,000 acres) adjacent to Gateway Gold Corp.’s (TSX Venture:GTQ) Big Springs and Dorsey Creek Properties.
Approximately three miles to the northeast, at the Big Springs Mine, Independence Mining Company, the previous operator, is reported by Gateway to have mined 510,000 ounces of gold in seven open pits between 1987 and 1993. In addition, Independence prepared a global resource estimate of over 850,000 ounces of gold in 1994.
Since acquiring the property in 2003, Gateway has announced discovery of additional gold, including high grade intercepts of 20 feet of 0.525 opt gold and 25 feet of 0.818 opt gold, at the crusher target that was lightly drilled by Independence.
At the Dorsey Creek Property, immediately adjacent to Jack Creek, Gateway recently announced the discovery of a “large Carlin-style gold system”. Independence had previously obtained a drill intercept of 20 feet of 0.255 opt gold according to Gateway’s news release. The Company believes that the gold system that passes from Big Springs and through Dorsey Creek extends onto the Jack Creek Property and that that the property has the potential to contain a significant gold deposit.
Having received a recommendation for further work, the result of Airborne Magnetic and Gravity Survey studies carried out on the property in September and October 2006, Tornado Gold will continue to move aggressively on the Jack Creek property.
