Metal Dispersion
Finally, as the hydrothermal solutions stream towards the surface along fractures, they soak into the rocks they pass and deposit their contained metals.
Because of their chemical nature, some of the metals are deposited close to the fracture some farther away and some very far away. By the interpretation of multi-element, geochemical analyses of rocks and soils, we can track where a hydrothermal solution has passed and determine the relative distance of a specific place from the source of that hydrothermal solution.
We don’t use just one element to determine this, but rather we use an assemblage of several elements that together form a picture of the chemical environment of our prospect.
We can determine where the low-pressure zones are most likely to be located and most “open” when the gold-bearing solutions streaming along them. This is a three-dimensional process that we continually update as we receive more information through drilling and whatever open cuts are to us.
We use this information to pin-point our drilling and reduce the number of wasted drill holes.
